Relationship problems

Why have relationship therapy?

A good relationship balances the needs and desires of two people. It's a delicate balance to achieve, so it's hardly surprising that relationships can easily break down. Once a relationship has started to falter, the most important thing is to be able to talk about it. Unfortunately, rather than sharing our feelings, many of us bury them or express them in angry or resentful behaviour. Very often, the end point is two people no longer talking but simply 'getting at each other'.

Whatever the nature of your relationship problem, we can help you have a meaningful conversation about it. We can also help you work towards a solution. We understand that some subjects, such a partner who has been unfaithful, can be very difficult to discuss. This is when being with a therapist who is trained to support and guide conversation can really help.

We help many couples in distress at our centre. We also work with parents and children, friends, family members and work colleagues. If you are experiencing relationship difficulties of any kind, please contact us. We can talk through the issue and get you the right help.

What kind of relationship difficulties can we help with?

Every person is unique, and so is every relationship. Below, however, are some common problems we help couples, families and individuals with at our centre:

  • partners who are fighting constantly
  • loss of intimacy in a relationship
  • conflict following the birth of a child
  • conflict over whether to have children
  • fear of commitment
  • sexual difficulties experienced by one or both partners
  • physical or emotional abuse in a relationship
  • relationships disrupted by alcoholism or gambling addiction
  • conflict between parents and children
  • family breakdown
  • clashes between colleagues; workplace bullying

What different therapies do we offer for relationship problems?

If you and your romantic partner are experiencing problems, we would recommend a course of couples therapy . If you are feeling unhappy in a relationship, but, for whatever reason, uncomfortable about the idea of discussing your difficulties with your partner, one to one therapy is a helpful alternative. We also offer sex therapy for couples with sexual difficulties, and family therapy in cases of family breakdown.
